Holiday blues

It's taken all I have to have the desire to do anything for Christmas. It was nice to be with family, for a little while. But it became work. William made out like a bandit! However... Gramma smokes, and has since as far back as I can remember. I used to smoke too, but have been smoke-free for over a year now. Hubby is also an ex-smoker, been that way for almost 7 months now (mebbe more, hard to remember). However, we NEVER smoked around William in the house, nor ever in a vehicle or anything like that. Gramma on the other hand... smokes anywhere she pleases. And, when you stay with Gramma, you deal with smoke. As anyone who reads my blog knows, William's been sick darn nearly every day since two weeks into the school year. Unless he's had a fever, he's been to school. Well, guess what.. he had another "flair up" of coughing and fever right after getting back from Gramma's and Christmas. So, I sped him off to the doctor (his CHIP's one since we FINALLY got that debacle all figured out), thinking we're dealing with another round of bronchitis and potential sinus infection. Like no surprise, because I just had that 2 weeks ago... Sinus infection - YES Bronchitis - NO What does my Doodlebug have? Reactive Airway Disease.. the step just before being diagnosed with either full blown asthma or emphysema. OMG!! Apparently when he was teeny tiny, he contracted RSV - the virus that kills babies because of respritory distress and failure. It also appears that his lungs weren't fully developed as "they" said they were right before the emergency c-section when he was born. With those two factors combined, we have a very sick little boy that is finding out life isn't as much fun as what it should be. I've been completely devastated over the whole thing. I know I need to be designing, and even have a new store that's unofficially opening up before the first of the year. However, my focus and energy has been spent into trying to will him "cured", though I know that at this point, there's no cure for what we're looking at. The new meds he was put on aren't working and clearing out his lungs. I spoke with the doctor earlier, and they were going to get a referral going to get him into see a specialist either ENT or pulminary for as soon as they can get him in. My poor, poor baby...

Hi Sweetheart,

Came over looking for G & G blog train (running well behind)x

I am so sorry to hear about your wee one. You must be so worried over him. Our Grandson is nearly 3 and we ken he's got asthma but they don't do any checks here in Scotland until they are 5 !!! Luckily as my boys went through it we can help him through. He's been full of a cough and cold this past week x

We don't let anyone smoke indoors anymore with the asthma in the family. they have to go down stairs to the front door. It really is hard when others don't understand that you can't cope with it. the smell alone and then it's on your chest too.

I'm sending prayers your way and do hope you get to see a specialist real soon x

We use Karvol or Eucalptus oil on the bedding at night to ease the chest if that helps x

Love and angel blessings to you frae Scotland xxxx
