Latest: Pneumonia is now in both lungs. The hospital pediatric unit is full with no open beds, but he's not sick enough to require transport to Children's Hospital in Dallas. So, we're kinda now being a hospital here at home, but without the icky things like needles and oxygen tubing. Breathing treatments are to be done as needed, regardless of the time between treatments. Fever that doesn't respond to meds is to be called in asap, as well as stomach ookies (throwing up) as well as 24 hrs of no liquids or food. He's already lost close to 1.5 pounds since this all started a week ago with the bronchitis. It's all I can to get him to drink ginger ale. But, at least he's drinking that. She said she'd be happy with any fluids, so we're going with that one at least for now. He had to have a shot of Rocephin in his thigh, and is so not happy and telling me all about it. He also had to do some blood work (more of those MEANIE needles) for tests and a blood culture along with urine cultures to see if we have any secondary infections that are causing the meds to not be effective at all. Sooooooo... More sleepless nights ahead. Hubby called while she was telling me about the hospital bed situation earlier, and he's sounding REALLY bad. Wouldn't be surprised if he winds up having some of the same stuff as William. William finally decided the couch would be a good place to have a wee rest since it doesn't require anything touching his leg ouchie. Think he fell asleep just as soon as he got still. Now, if he can just rest without gasping and panting for air like what was happening last night. He's started to run a fever again, but that's expected with being up and about and has been the history of this mess since the beginning. I just hope that it won't go above that "magick number" that she told me would be a danger zone for him at this point. Oye oye oye.... please keep praying for him and for us. I want my baby better, but I know God is looking out and over him. It's just this powerlessness feeling that's so hard to accept and work through at this point.
