New Home
Wow, never thought I would come out and create my own blog, but I couldn't resist!
A lil' bit about me:
I'm a proud SAHM (stay at home momma) to a beautiful boy, William, who's 4 years old. Hubby and I have come to accept the fact that there's something very different, very unique, very special about this lil guy of ours. He has autism. Yeppers, I have finally accepted the fact that this angel of ours has a different look on life than most others do. However, there's nothing wrong with him. There's nothing "abnormal" about him. He's just got his brain wired in a completely different direction than what you and I have. That's it! He's found other things more important to him than what other children his age have come to discover. He doesn't speak much on his own. He spends a majority of his time "in his own world", playing and catagorizing his toys (mainly all his Hotwheels cars) and books, continuing to teach himself to read (he's been doing that since before the age of two! o.O), and being a busy lil boy. He's not potty trained (yet, though we work on it each and every day!). He spends most of his time speaking by echoing what Hubby and I say. We have to work hard at maintaining a rigid schedule during the day, or else we have major meltdowns. But, even with all the hard work we face each minute, each hour, each day, I wouldn't trade it for all the tea in China in all the world.
I too have my own issues that I face. I have severe bipolar disorder. I have struggled with this illness for over 5 years, since I stopped working as a licensed social worker. I have lots of experience with children with special needs, because that was my primary area of work back when I was actively working. Never would I realize that I would find myself on the other side of the desk, having to seek for help for not only our angel, but for myself as well. I have severe anxiety issues, and swing big time at the drop of a hat. I have serious problems with social anxiety, and do all I can to avoid contact with others. Having been involved in an abusive marriage previously to meeting Hubby, that really did a number on my head. Anyway.. am not gonna go there... :-)
Since becoming disabled, I have tried to find an outlet for my energy when it begins to build up. I have come across the world of PSP, and my newest addiction, digi-scrapping! I am the newest of newbies when it comes to this, but am always on the looksie for treats, treasures, and all sorts of jems to add to my ever-growing collection of scrap stuff and PSP tools. I'm part of many groups via Yahoo and Google in search of tutorials and hopefully friends that would like to take part in tutoring a youngling like myself in the art of digital design. Hopefully, through the use of my newest friend (this here blog of mine), I will be able to meet more folk like myself, and hope to be able to make some good friendships that spread across the miles.
I look forward to getting to know those that come to my blog, and will strive hard to update on as regular a basis as possible. Sometimes there might be multiple posts in one day, and sometimes it might be a couple of days between posts. So, if you don't see me in a few days, don't worry. I might just have my hands full with my wee angel. ;-)
Thank you for reading this, and please make sure to come back and see what might be new in my new home!
